Deck overview

This Abzan deck stocks the graveyard with creatures that carry keywords, then casts Kathril, Aspect Warper to convert those keywords into counters. Kathril checks the graveyard for flying, first strike, double strike, deathtouch, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, reach, trample and vigilance, puts a matching counter on a creature you control for each keyword found, and grows itself for each counter placed. The primary win is combat damage from one or two large, evasive, protected attackers, often via commander damage. Secondary paths share keywords with Odric, Lunarch Marshal, Majestic Myriarch and Cairn Wanderer, and grind value with Tayam, Reveillark and Deadbridge Chant. Kathril is the payoff, not ramp or card draw; Odric functions as a hidden commander for keyword sharing when Kathril is unavailable.
