Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir rat-tribal control/value strategy helmed by Vren, the Relentless. The primary game plan is to force opponents' creatures to die (via edicts, destroy spells, and board wipes) which Vren exiles and then creates a growing army of rat tokens at each end step. A secondary drain package - Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Nadier's Nightblade, Bastion of Remembrance, Mirkwood Bats - converts every death into life loss for opponents, gradually grinding the table down. The deck also contains a single infinite loop: Ashnod's Altar + Reassembling Skeleton + Pitiless Plunderer + a drain creature, producing infinite deaths and infinitely large rats. Victory comes either from a massive rat swarm trampling through evasion effects, or from the combo chaining drains in one turn. Recursion engines like Chainer, Dementia Master, Hell's Caretaker, and Phyrexian Reclamation ensure the deck can rebuild after disruption.
