Fire Lord Azula - Budget EDHREC Article

Format: Commander

Commander: Fire Lord Azula

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Grixis spellslinger deck leverages Fire Lord Azula to duplicate combat-phase spells while generating red mana through firebending. Azula functions as both a mana engine and spell copier whenever she attacks. The deck wins by chaining cheap instant-speed burn, cantrips, and pump spells during combat, multiplying their effects through Azula and spell-copying permanents. Supporting burn engines like Guttersnipe and Coruscation Mage convert high storm counts into table-wide lethal damage. Alternatively, buffing Azula directly with copied pump spells like Bulk Up, Twinferno, or Fists of Flame allows for rapid commander damage knockouts against vulnerable opponents.
