Doom prevails by jtchristie

Format: Commander

Commander: Doctor Doom, King of Latveria

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Grixis Villain tribal midrange deck that wins through combat and incremental drain, not combos. Doctor Doom, King of Latveria is a 4-mana engine: each combat a Villain gains menace and connives, and discarding one or more lands drains each opponent for 2. The 99 is a dense legendary-Villain pile that connives, makes tokens, and pumps the team, backed by discard payoffs such as Monument to Endurance and graveyard-cast enablers like Norman Osborn // Green Goblin and Underworld Breach. There are no infinite lines; games end when a pumped, often menacing board connects, sometimes after a one-sided Kindred Dominance, with commander land-discards and Monument to Endurance shaving life totals along the way. Doom is important selection and drain, but the tribal plan still functions if he is answered. At 3.61 average mana value with a high density of 5-8 mana legends, this is a mid-to-late-game value deck, not a fast combo list.
