Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Grixis engine built around Doctor Doom, King of Latveria. Rather than running a traditional tribal deck, it leverages the unique interaction between Doctor Doom's passive ability—which drains each opponent for 2 life whenever one or more lands are discarded—and repeatable discard outlets. The deck supplements this burn strategy with combat connive triggers and high-impact Villain payoffs. Key engine pieces like Seismic Assault, Psychic Frog, and Trade Routes turn land drops and excess draws into direct damage and card selection. In the mid-to-late game, explosive multipliers such as Bone Miser, Roaming Throne, and Living Laser compound discard events into massive mana surpluses and overwhelming combat boards. While vulnerable to heavy interaction due to a low density of reactive countermagic, the deck delivers consistent, table-wide pressure through incremental life loss and combat aggression.
