Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain attrition strategy commanded by Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. The game plan establishes an early life buffer through low-cost lifegain permanents like Daxos, Blessed by the Sun and Impassioned Orator, then deploys Liesa on Turn 5. Liesa immediately imposes a 2-life tax on every spell cast across the table while providing an evasive 5/5 lifelink body to maintain a growing life disparity. As opponents lose life from casting spells and taking combat damage, the deck accelerates table elimination through drain payoffs such as Marauding Blight-Priest, Epicure of Blood, and Sanguine Bond, or finishes games with a devastating Debt to the Deathless or Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While the deck lacks fast mana, tutors, and hard locks, its high redundancy in lifegain triggers ensures consistent execution. Liesa's unique tax-evading mechanic provides outstanding commander resilience, allowing the deck to outlast opponents through steady attrition.
