Format: Commander

Commander: Jon Irenicus, Shattered One

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Jon Irenicus is a bad-gifts commander: he donates one creature per end step, adding +1/+1 counters, goading it, and making it unsacrificable, while drawing a card each time a creature you own attacks under someone else's control. The deck fills itself with overstatted drawback demons and horrors that safely attack your other opponents. Sower of Discord doubles damage between a chosen pair, and Tainted Strike can convert a 9+ power swing into a poison kill. Homeward Path or a reserved attacker supplies the final 1v1 win, while a dense counterspell package protects Jon. This is a midrange attrition deck that wins through repeated goaded combat rather than combo.
