Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Dimir tempo and burn strategy led by Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow. The primary plan curve starts on Turn 1 with cheap, unblockable creatures such as Changeling Outcast, Slither Blade, and Ornithopter. On Turn 2, the deck activates Commander Ninjutsu to bring Yuriko into play tapped and attacking. Yuriko's ability bypasses the traditional commander tax, drawing cards and burning every opponent simultaneously for each connected Ninja trigger. High-mana-value spells featuring delve, split costs, or reduction mechanics—such as Shadow of Mortality, Temporal Trespass, and Commit // Memory—maximize Yuriko's burn triggers while remaining castable later in the game. Topdeck manipulation from Brainstorm, Brainsurge, and Insatiable Avarice ensures consistent damage output. Backed by cheap counterspells and removal, the deck aggressively drains the entire table in tandem, aiming to close the game around Turn 5.
