Black Devotion by SpagNoodle

Format: Commander

Commander: Erebos, God of the Dead

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a mono-black devotion control deck built around Erebos, God of the Dead. It wants to flood the board with heavy black pips, then convert that devotion into life loss: Gray Merchant of Asphodel is the primary payoff, and Animate Dead, Whip of Erebos, Liliana, and Shade's Form let it drain repeatedly. Abhorrent Overlord plus Ayara, First of Locthwain forms a second finisher, where each Harpy ETB drains. Erebos himself provides card draw and shuts off opponent lifegain, while Nykthos and Cabal Stronghold generate explosive mana for X spells. With no counters and little fast mana, the deck trades speed for inevitability through recursion and incremental drains.
