Mortarion V2 by Chromedeception

Format: Commander

Commander: Mortarion, Daemon Primarch

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Mortarion, Daemon Primarch is a single-faced commander who turns life lost each turn into menace tokens. The primary plan is to spend life aggressively on draw engines such as Necropotence, Dark Confidant, Phyrexian Arena, and Black Market Connections, fuel Mortarion's end-step army, then sacrifice those tokens to Ashnod's Altar or Phyrexian Altar to trigger Blood Artist-style drain and generate mana. Secondary paths are a large Exsanguinate, often doubled by Bloodletter of Aclazotz, and reanimation of Razaketh or Vilis via Reanimate or Command the Dreadhorde. K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth acts as a hidden commander, converting life into black mana and accelerating every black spell. Mortarion is strong but not required; the deck can pivot to K'rrik and Bolas's Citadel value if he is answered.
