Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Lifegain Control and Attrition strategy commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. It combines early creature-based lifegain triggers—such as Soul Warden, Daxos, Blessed by the Sun, and Authority of the Consuls—with asymmetric drain effects like Marauding Blight-Priest and Blood Artist. Once the commander enters the battlefield, every lifegain event can be converted directly into card draw by paying life, generating an overwhelming flow of cards that outpaces the table. The deck uses this card advantage to assemble decisive closing sequences, including Bolas's Citadel chains, one-shot life-drain bursts via Beacon of Immortality paired with Vizkopa Guildmage, or an expedited Approach of the Second Sun loop. Robust spot removal and modal board wipes provide dependable board control throughout the midgame.
