Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Grixis midrange deck commanded by Obeka, Splitter of Seconds. The primary strategy leverages Obeka's combat damage trigger, which awards additional upkeep steps equal to the damage dealt. By equipping or enchanting Obeka with unblockable effects and power enhancements, the deck generates two to four extra upkeeps each turn. These stacked steps supercharge a wide array of upkeep-triggered permanents, including the Monarch Courts, suspend cards, token creators, and life-drain engines. Acceleration on Turns 1 and 2 ensures Obeka enters on Turn 3, setting up combat connections on Turn 4 and a decisive onset on Turn 5. The deck defends its commander with redundant shroud, hexproof, and ward equipment, grinding down the table through severe card advantage, hand destruction, and steady combat damage to close the game on Turn 7.
