Deck overview

This deck pairs Sarevok, Deathbringer with Cultist of the Absolute to build an aggressive, evasive voltron threat that also acts as a group slug engine. Cultist turns Sarevok into a 6/7 flying, deathtouch attacker with built-in ward protection, while imposing a mandatory upkeep sacrifice. In exchange, Sarevok penalizes opponents for inactive turns by dealing 6 direct damage whenever no permanents leave their battlefield. The 99 supports this strategy with resilient sacrifice fodder like Ophiomancer and Reassembling Skeleton to feed Cultist reliably. A deep suite of low-cost mono-black removal triggers Sarevok while keeping opposing boards clear. As combat damage mounts, secondary drain engines such as Syr Konrad, the Grim, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Exsanguinate close out the table. The deck plays a steady, attrition-heavy game that converts creature deaths into continuous card advantage and table-wide life loss.
