Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Izzet tempo and burn build commanded by Captain Howler, Sea Scourge. The game plan revolves around pairing cheap, unblockable creatures with dense looting, wheel, and discard effects. Each discarded card fuels Captain Howler's triggered ability, granting massive temporary power boosts to attacking creatures and drawing replacement cards on combat damage. Redundant discard payoffs such as Glint-Horn Buccaneer, Magmakin Artillerist, and Cool but Rude convert cycling and hand resets into heavy table-wide direct damage. Mana acceleration from 2-drop artifacts and Treasure generation allows the deck to deploy its commander reliably by Turn 4. From there, sudden bursts of discard scale damage to lethal levels starting on Turn 5. The deck defends its combat windows with efficient countermagic and redirection spells while remaining capable of closing out games even if the commander is removed.
