Commander: Rowan, Scion of War

Bracket: 5

Deck overview

Rowan, Scion of War is an aggressive Rakdos life-total combo deck. The primary plan is to deliberately lose life through painlands, fetchlands, Thoughtseize, and Treasonous Ogre, then activate Rowan to reduce spell costs and cast Torment of Hailfire for a lethal X. Ad Nauseam and Peer into the Abyss both draw a critical mass and further the life-loss plan. Backup lines include the Jeska's Will + Reiterate infinite-mana loop with Searing Touch as an outlet, plus value engines around K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth and Bolas's Citadel, which function as hidden commanders. The deck is fast, tutor-dense, and plays heavily through the graveyard, but is soft to stax pieces that cut off activated abilities or artifacts.
