Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet spellslinger powerhouse commanded by Melek, Reforged Researcher. Melek scales his base power and toughness directly from the density of instants and sorceries in your graveyard while granting a continuous {3} mana discount on the first instant or sorcery you cast each turn. The strategy uses early-game looting and cheap cantrips to stock the graveyard rapidly, accelerating Melek into play on turn 4. Once established, Melek transforms massive sorceries like Chandra's Ignition and Gravitic Punch into lethal multi-target burn spells, wiping opposing boards while simultaneously threatening lethal commander damage. A deep suite of counterspells and redirection spells keeps Melek protected while leveraging his discount on opposing turns.
