Deck overview

Astor, Bearer of Blades is a Boros equipment voltron deck. The commander's ETB digs seven cards for an Equipment, and his static equip {1} lets every Equipment jump onto a creature for one mana. The primary plan is to cast Astor on turn three, find Grafted Exoskeleton, and turn him into an infect threat, finishing with double strike or Chandra's Ignition for mass poison. Secondary paths are large commander swings with Excalibur or Sunforger and mass recursion via Scrap Mastery/Wake the Past. There is no hidden commander; the back faces of Halvar, Toralf, and Reidane are value Equipment rather than a second strategy. Astor is the card advantage, cost reducer, and voltron base; without him the deck becomes a slow pile of Equipment.
