Smaug by user5960639

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Smaug the Impenetrable is a treasure engine that uses its own indestructibility to turn noncombat damage into massive mana. The deck's primary plan is to ramp with artifacts and early treasure makers, cast Smaug, then resolve Pestilence or Pyrohemia and repeatedly damage it, with each Treasure token funding the next activation while the table loses life. Backup lines include big one-shot pings into Exsanguinate, and the Bloodthirsty Conqueror / Exquisite Blood / South Wind Avatar life-drain loop. Smaug the Magnificent and Smaug, Wicked Worm act as hidden commander-style accelerants in the 99. The deck is fast once assembled but relies heavily on Smaug staying on the battlefield.
