Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul combat stompy strategy commanded by General Marhault Elsdragon. The deck weaponizes combat blocking dynamics by pairing the commander's ability—granting blocked creatures +3/+3 for each blocking creature—with forced-blocking effects such as Lure, Nemesis Mask, Taunting Elf, and Roar of Challenge. When a designated lure creature attacks, it compels the defending player's entire creature suite to block it, swelling the lure creature into a massive threat while wiping out opposing defenders and allowing the rest of the attacking army to deal unblocked combat damage. Supported by dense card-draw engines like Garruk's Uprising, Elemental Bond, and Toski, Bearer of Secrets, the deck transitions smoothly into mid-game overruns using finishers such as Pathbreaker Ibex, Quartzwood Crasher, and Surrak and Goreclaw. While it lacks nonland tutors and instant-speed stack interaction, the deck presents overwhelming combat pressure starting on Turn 5 and reliably eliminates the table by Turn 7 across successive combat steps.
