Licia Midrange Drain v8 by TaraSimplyExists

Format: Commander

Commander: Licia, Sanguine Tribune

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Mardu lifegain deck treats life total as both a resource and a weapon. Commander Licia, Sanguine Tribune exploits the deck's constant life gain - from painlands, Talisman of Indulgence|Talismans, Black Market Connections, and drain creatures - to come down for as little as a single mana, then serves as a first-striking, lifelinking beatstick and loop starter. The primary win condition is the classic Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond infinite-drain loop, supported by an unusually deep redundancy package: multiple "whenever you gain life, opponents lose life" pieces and two "whenever an opponent loses life, you gain life" pieces, so almost any pair wins as soon as a life-gain trigger fires. Secondary kills include Professor Onyx + Chain of Smog, Aetherflux Reservoir with Bolas's Citadel, and a combat fallback via Angel of Destiny or Chandra's Ignition on an enormous Licia. It is a mid-speed combo deck that wins through life-total math.
