Jund Stuff by Jodyscactus

Format: Commander

Commander: Maarika, Brutal Gladiator

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Jund deck helmed by Maarika, Brutal Gladiator is a combat-focused beatdown strategy that leverages her must-block clause and indestructibility during your turn to force trades, then uses the excess damage trigger to make opponents sacrifice noncreature, nonland permanents. The deck pairs this with a dense suite of fight spells, +1/+1 counter synergies, and extra combat phases to rapidly grow creatures and chain multiple combats in a single turn. Combat Celebrant, Fear of Missing Out, and Grim Reaper's Sprint provide the multi-combat engine, while Kalonian Hydra, Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus, and Ornery Tumblewagg exponentialize power. Recursion spells like Reanimate, Victimize, and Cauldron of Essence keep the board present. The deck wins by overwhelming the table with massive, trampling creatures across multiple combats, stripping away key blockers and problematic permanents via Maarika's sacrifice ability and fight effects.
