Deck overview

This Orzhov Midrange deck centers on Karlov of the Ghost Council, utilizing a dense suite of low-mana lifegain triggers to rapidly grow the commander into a lethal threat while providing repeatable on-board creature exile. The early game establishes continuous incremental lifegain through staples like Soul Warden, Authority of the Consuls, and Auriok Champion, ensuring Karlov enters on Turn 2 and immediately scales. Mid-game turns establish strong tempo control with asymmetric tap effects like Blind Obedience and Charismatic Conqueror, while card advantage engines like The One Ring and Esper Sentinel maintain resource parity. The deck defends its board state with premier protection spells including Clever Concealment and Flare of Fortitude. Winning occurs through accelerated commander damage, wide token swarms from Adeline, Resplendent Cathar boosted by Moonshaker Cavalry, or targeted life drain via Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose.
