Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet control and spellslinger build that uses The Locust God to turn card draw into an overwhelming army of 1/1 flying, hasty Insect tokens. In the early game, the deck focuses on hitting land drops, playing two-mana rocks like Arcane Signet, and disrupting opposing threats with a deep suite of counterspells and burn removal. Once the commander is cast on Turn 6, the deck pivots into aggressive token generation through draw spells like Brainsurge and Sphinx's Approach. The hasty flying tokens create immediate combat pressure, quickly scaling to lethal numbers over two combat rotations. When commander damage or swarming is obstructed, high-impact spells such as Crackle with Power, Niv-Mizzet, Visionary, and Seize the Day provide potent alternative avenues to close out the game.
