Deck overview

This Orzhov deck operates as a life-manipulation combo-control strategy centered on Mister Negative. The game plan revolves around utilizing repeatable life-payment outlets like Wall of Blood, Mischievous Poltergeist, and Blood Celebrant to intentionally lower your life total to 1. When Mister Negative enters the battlefield, its Darkforce Inversion ability exchanges your low life total with a healthy opponent's life total. This sudden life swing immediately reduces an opponent to critical health while triggering lifegain-to-damage payoffs such as Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, and Vizkopa Guildmage to deal massive drain damage to the table. The deck supports this game plan with robust defensive tools like Angel's Grace, Phyrexian Unlife, and Teferi's Protection, preventing lethal blowouts while operating at low life thresholds. High-utility interaction and sweepers control the board until the deck executes its decisive life-exchange finish.
