Smaug deck by askfloto

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is built around Smaug the Impenetrable's unique engine: whenever the 8/7 flying, indestructible, haste Dragon takes noncombat damage, he creates that many Treasure tokens. The plan is to cast Smaug ahead of curve with a dense ritual package, then hit him with damage spells like Cut Propulsion, Self-Destruct, and Pain for All to bank a massive Treasure hoard. That hoard fuels table-killing X-spells (Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, Crackle with Power) and artifact synergies (Academy Manufactor, Ingenious Artillerist, Reckless Fireweaver, Mirkwood Bats). A secondary line uses rituals plus Underworld Breach and Past in Flames to storm into a big X-spell without the commander. The deck is a one-big-turn combo deck with heavy fast mana, a deep tutor suite, and a solid instant-speed interaction package.
