Deck overview

This deck centers on Excava, the Risen Past, utilizing early looting and discard spells to load the graveyard with high-utility permanents of mana value 3 or less. When Excava enters on turn 4, its native haste allows it to attack immediately, reanimating a creature, artifact, or enchantment as a 1/1 flying Spirit with a finality counter. The deck circumvents finality counters by flickering reanimated targets with cards like Ephemerate and Teleportation Circle, or removing the counters using Nesting Grounds and Power Conduit. Once cleared, these permanents regain their printed stats and can be recycled indefinitely. The win condition is combat-focused, leveraging evasive flying Spirit tokens buffed by Warleader's Call and Vanguard of the Restless. Supported by robust white protection spells like Teferi's Protection and flexible removal options, the deck sustains an attrition-based game plan that systematically overwhelms opponents in the mid-to-late game.
