Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul Stompy and Punisher strategy commanded by Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. It accelerates mana early using low-cost mana dorks and land enchantments, setting up a Turn 4 commander deployment. Ruric Thar immediately applies severe attrition to spell-heavy opponents by dealing 6 damage per noncreature cast. The deck supplements this pressure with anti-artifact and anti-spell hatebears like Collector Ouphe, Harsh Mentor, and Magebane Lizard. Because the deck is almost entirely permanent-based, it breaks parity on its own tax effects while sustaining card flow through power-matters engines like Toski, Bearer of Secrets and Dragonborn Champion. The game is closed out between Turns 6 and 8 using massive trample beaters and extra combat phases from Moraug, Fury of Akoum, End-Raze Forerunners, and Scourge of the Throne.
