Aura of Ascension V2

Format: Commander

Commander: Shalai and Hallar

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Naya +1/+1 counter deck that pairs a dense Angel package with every counter-multiplication effect it can find. Shalai and Hallar is the engine: every time one or more +1/+1 counters are put on a creature you control, it converts that event into direct damage. The deck's preferred finish is an infinite lifegain/counter loop using Archangel of Thune plus a lifelink grant from either Heliod, Sun-Crowned or Abzan Battle Priest, kicked off by any counter trigger. Backup plans are evasive Angel beatdown made enormous by Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution, Cathars' Crusade, and Innkeeper's Talent, plus All Will Be One mirroring the commander's damage and Mayael's Aria as an alternate win condition. The deck plays like a midrange combo shell: ramp early, assemble the loop, and use flying, lifelink, and hexproof bodies to survive until the combo comes together.
