Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black stax and attrition strategy built around Tergrid, God of Fright. The game plan revolves around deploying symmetrical discard and sacrifice effects that strip opponents of resources while Tergrid's triggered ability places all discarded and sacrificed permanent cards directly onto your battlefield. Acceleration pieces like Dark Ritual, Sol Ring, and Crypt Ghast facilitate an on-curve deployment of Tergrid by Turn 5. Once Tergrid survives to untap on Turn 6, resolving mass discard spells such as Dark Deal or Rankle's Prank establishes total board dominance and starves opponents of cards. The deck finishes games through overwhelming stolen board presence, a high-value Torment of Hailfire, or an incidental infinite life-drain combo between Bloodthirsty Conqueror and Starscape Cleric. Its primary vulnerabilities stem from Tergrid's lack of innate protection, vulnerability to replacement-effect graveyard hate, and black's inability to interact with opposing spells on the stack.
