Deck overview

The Ghoul, Gunslinger commands a highly tuned mono-black combo and stax engine built for fast, decisive execution. The deck leverages hyper-efficient fast mana, dark rituals, and universal black tutors to rapidly assemble game-ending loops centered around Gravecrawler, Phyrexian Altar, and death-trigger payoffs like Blood Artist and Marionette Apprentice. The Ghoul acts as both an enabler and a payoff, converting Zombie death triggers into rad counters on opponents or Treasure tokens for yourself. Alongside its primary combo lines, the deck fields powerful alternative engines including Ad Nauseam, Necropotence, and the Bolas's Citadel plus Sensei's Divining Top package. To suppress faster opposing strategies and protect its own development, the list deploys oppressive lock pieces such as Contamination, Oppression, Opposition Agent, and Dauthi Voidwalker. With a low mana curve and resilient graveyard recursion, the deck threatens early-turn wins while maintaining the attrition tools needed to grind through disruption.
