Deck overview

This Izzet spellslinger deck uses Magnus the Red to convert a wide board of creature tokens into massive generic mana discounts on instant and sorcery spells. Early turns focus on generating low-cost creature tokens with cards like Dragon Fodder, Young Pyromancer, and Third Path Iconoclast. Once Magnus enters the battlefield, massive card-draw spells such as Pull from Tomorrow and Finale of Revelation can be cast for as little as two blue mana. This influx of resources fuels explosive red rituals like Battle Hymn and Mana Geyser, generating the mana necessary to close the game on turn 5. The primary finish relies on a game-ending Crackle with Power to burn out all three opponents simultaneously, or an infinite Treasure and storm loop using Storm-Kiln Artist and Haze of Rage. A dense suite of counterspells and protection spells safeguards the engine throughout its winning turn.
