Deck overview

This deck is a competitive Izzet control-combo strategy built around Niv-Mizzet, Parun. It plays an interactive early game, using cheap cantrips and an elite counterspell suite to stall opposing fast wins while assembling its mana base. The deck leverages efficient mana rocks and rituals to meet the strict {U}{U}{U}{R}{R}{R} casting cost of its commander. Once Niv-Mizzet enters the battlefield, the deck threatens an immediate win through a two-card combo with Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, or Tandem Lookout. Dealing damage triggers a draw, which in turn triggers Niv-Mizzet to deal damage, creating a continuous loop that draws the entire deck and burns down opponents. If direct damage cannot finish every player before the library is exhausted, the drawn deck casts Dualcaster Mage and Molten Duplication to create infinite hasty attackers. A dense suite of free protection spells defends the combo from interaction.
