Deck overview

This deck is a high-power Grixis build helmed by Saruman, the White Hand. While the commander and several support cards encourage a Goblin and Orc spellslinger strategy that amasses tall Army tokens and generates incremental burn damage, the deck's primary engine is a compact, high-velocity combo package. Leveraging format-ceiling fast mana such as Mana Vault, Chrome Mox, and Sol Ring, along with premier tutors like Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor, the deck rapidly assembles the Thassa's Oracle plus Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact combo by Turn 3. It defends its win attempts with a robust suite of free and efficient counterspells, including Force of Will and Fierce Guardianship. Secondary win conditions like Underworld Breach, Laboratory Maniac, and Krenko, Mob Boss combined with Intruder Alarm provide resilience and alternative avenues to victory if the primary line is contested.
