Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black discard and Voltron strategy led by Tourach, Dread Cantor. The primary game plan revolves around casting Tourach on Turn 2 and rapidly scaling its power using symmetric and targeted discard spells like Burglar Rat, Hopeless Nightmare, and Hymn to Tourach. As opponents lose cards, Tourach accumulates +1/+1 counters, transforming into a large combat threat. Damage-multiplying enchantments like Megrim, Liliana's Caress, and Raiders' Wake punish opponents for discarding, while evasion equipment like Prowler's Helm and Hot Soup helps Tourach connect for lethal commander damage. However, the deck suffers from low mana velocity, relying on natural land drops with minimal ramp. It also lacks instant-speed interaction and reliable protection for Tourach beyond protection from white, meaning it must navigate multi-turn combat clocks while vulnerable to non-white removal and sweepers.
