Deck overview

Felothar the Steadfast leads an Abzan toughness-matters strategy that converts low-cost, high-toughness defenders into potent offensive threats and an explosive card-draw engine. Early turns focus on deploying efficient walls like Wall of Junk, Wall of Tanglecord, and Crashing Drawbridge alongside baseline ramp. Casting Felothar on Turn 4 immediately enables defenders to attack using their toughness and unlocks an activated draw ability that nets 4 to 13 cards when sacrificing 0-power creatures. The deck breaks parity through asymmetric board wipes like Slaughter the Strong and Dusk // Dawn, which eliminate opposing high-power creatures while leaving your defensive line intact. Combat closers include Tower Defense, Unnatural Growth, and Betor, Kin to All, supported by skulk and unblockable evasion. Dense redundancy in toughness-damage enablers ensures the deck remains resilient against commander removal.
