This deck is a Golgari midrange strategy that unites Landfall and Aristocrats around Sméagol, Helpful Guide. In the early game, cheap mana dorks and ramp spells establish your mana base and deploy Sméagol ahead of curve. The engine activates when a creature dies on your turn, triggering the Ring to tempt you and allowing Sméagol to steal a land directly from an opponent's library onto your battlefield tapped. This stolen land fuels powerful Landfall engines such as Scute Swarm, Rampaging Baloths, and Avenger of Zendikar, rapidly generating large creature armies.
