Deck overview

This deck is a Sultai Hydra tribal and +1/+1 counters strategy commanded by Zaxara, the Exemplary. The primary game plan focuses on deploying early ramp to cast Zaxara on Turn 4, then leveraging its mana tap ability and spell-trigger to double the board presence of every X-cost Hydra cast on subsequent turns. Counter enhancers such as Doubling Season, Branching Evolution, and Innkeeper's Talent rapidly balloon creatures into double-digit power threats, while evasion from Herald of Secret Streams, Garruk's Uprising, and Shadowspear ensures combat damage connects. The deck also harbors an infinite mana combo via Freed from the Real on Zaxara, enabling instant table eliminations with Exsanguinate. While the list excels at generating massive stats and overwhelming boards, its reliance on big sorcery-speed investments makes it vulnerable to mass creature exile and well-timed board sweepers.
