Commander: Etali, Primal Conqueror // Etali, Primal Sickness

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This Gruul deck is a fast ritual combo deck that uses Etali, Primal Conqueror as a free-spell theft engine, not as a poison finisher. The front face (7/7 trample, exile and cast opponents' nonlands for free) is the build-around; the back face (11/11 indestructible poison) costs 9{G/P} to transform, lacks proliferate support, and is only a backup combat threat. The hidden engine is Food Chain plus Squee, the Immortal, with secondary lines in Dualcaster Mage plus Twinflame and Underworld Breach plus Lion's Eye Diamond plus Wheel of Fortune plus Jeska's Will. Etali provides card advantage and an outlet for infinite creature mana, while Roaming Throne and Hunting Velociraptor amplify its trigger or cheat its cost.
