Deck overview

This deck is a high-impact Gruul stompy strategy commanded by Xenagos, God of Revels. The game plan focuses on ramping during the first three turns, casting Xenagos on Turn 4, and dropping lethal singular threats on Turn 5 and beyond. Xenagos bypasses summoning sickness by granting haste and doubling the power of incoming creatures at the beginning of combat. Trample, evasion, and infect allow cards like Blightsteel Colossus, Malignus, and Atarka, World Render to eliminate opponents in massive chunks. Additional combat steps from Moraug, Bloodthirster, and Savage Beating allow the deck to turn single-target eliminations into rapid multi-player sweeps. While the deck boasts high redundancy among its beaters, its reliance on combat damage leaves it vulnerable to well-timed instant-speed spot removal, sweepers, and fog effects.
