Format: Commander

Commander: Gandalf, Party Guest

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Jeskai Wizard-tribal spellslinger deck built around Gandalf, Party Guest, whose combat trigger free-casts an instant or sorcery for free each turn. The core plan is to flood the battlefield with legendary Wizards - more than twenty live in the 99 - to inflate the commander's X, then use his trigger to chain free spells at the beginning of every combat. The deck wins through combat: magecraft token swarms from Talrand, Sky Summoner, Kykar, Wind's Fury, and Deekah, Fractal Theorist, amplified by Flying Crane Technique and Full Throttle into a multi-combat alpha strike. Backup lines include an overloaded Mizzix's Mastery flashback blowout, Insurrection, and the transformed The Lord Master of Hell's graveyard-sized Starfall drain. The graveyard/instant-sorcery synergy package in Lier, Disciple of the Drowned and Glamdring, Foe-hammer gives the deck a deep second engine if the commander is kept off the battlefield.
