5PW Rowan self harm by Tolgron

Format: Commander

Commander: Rowan, Scion of War

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Rowan, Scion of War is the entire engine: the deck spends life in the first main phase, taps Rowan, then casts a heavily discounted black/red X spell. The primary kill is Crackle with Power with X=3, which deals 15 to each opponent after 11 life is lost. Backup lines use Heartless Hidetsugu to halve life totals, then Exsanguinate or Delete, or steal creatures with Threaten effects and swing with Rising of the Day. K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth acts as a hidden commander, converting life into black mana and extra life loss. The deck is built around Rowan's tap ability; without her, the X-spell plan loses its discount and the deck has no comparable engine.
