Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Gwenom, Remorseless as a high-velocity mana cheat and card advantage engine in the command zone. By turning life into a primary spending resource, Gwenom allows you to cast expensive, game-ending spells directly from the top of your library whenever she attacks. The list supports this strategy through an extensive suite of top-deck manipulation tools, including Sensei's Divining Top, Scroll Rack, and Doom Whisperer, which ensure you consistently reveal your most impactful threats. Meanwhile, cards like Ancient Cellarspawn, Baneful Omen, and Shard of the Nightbringer convert high mana values into asymmetric table-wide life loss. Supported by reliable mono-black ramp from Cabal Coffers and Jet Medallion, along with resilient protection from Swarmyard and Lightning Greaves, the deck quickly transitions from early acceleration to overwhelming combat pressure and life drain, closing out games within two combat cycles after Gwenom's initial attack.
