Deck overview

This mono-blue control deck leverages Eluge, the Shoreless Sea to turn lands into Islands and generate massive, compounding cost reductions on instant and sorcery spells. By reducing the cost of the first spell cast each turn by {U} or {1} per flood counter, Eluge breaks the resource symmetry of the commander format, allowing the deck to play multi-mana interaction and card advantage spells on every player's turn for free or a single blue mana. The deck capitalizes on this mana advantage by deploying brutal asymmetric stax pieces like Back to Basics, Winter Orb, Winter Moon, and Harbinger of the Seas, completely choking opposing nonbasic mana bases while remaining entirely unaffected due to its high density of basic Islands. Victory is achieved through Hullbreaker Horror bounce locks, Peregrine Drake and Archaeomancer flicker loops that mill opponents with Blue Sun's Zenith, or extra turn loops with Temporal Manipulation.
