Deck overview

This is a Black-Red group-slug prison deck built around Kaervek the Merciless. The plan is to make every opponent game action cost life: land drops trigger Ankh of Mishra and Zo-Zu the Punisher, activated abilities feed Harsh Mentor and Immolation Shaman, and every spell cast turns into a Kaervek burn trigger. The deck then resets the board with an unusually dense wipe suite, grinds out value from The Soul Stone and both Sheoldreds, and closes with repeatable drain engines like Baneful Omen, Price of Knowledge, and a giant Torment of Hailfire. There are no fast infinite combos; instead, War's Toll, Mana Web, and Price of Glory can assemble a soft mana lock, and indestructible permanents make Jokulhaups almost one-sided. Kaervek accelerates the attrition plan, but the 99 is full of independent punishment pieces, so the deck does not collapse if he is answered.
