Deck overview

This is a mono-black discard-and-sacrifice stax deck helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern. The plan is to empty opponents' hands and force permanent sacrifices, then either steal those permanents with Tergrid or convert the attrition into a hard lock and a compact combo finish. Primary wins are Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank, Chain of Smog paired with magecraft drain (Professor Onyx), and life-total collapse via Peer into the Abyss under Sheoldred, the Apocalypse or Underworld Dreams. Secondary paths include empty-hand payoffs (Tinybones, Trinket Thief, Quest for the Nihil Stone) and classic black cloud effects (Death Cloud, Pox, Smallpox) that strip the table while Tergrid reanimates the wreckage. Dense fast mana and a deep tutor suite make the deck highly consistent; interaction is almost entirely tax, discard, and edict rather than stack control.
