Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mono-Black Control and Big Mana strategy built around Ob Nixilis, the Fallen. The game plan revolves around generating vast amounts of black mana using Cabal Coffers, Nirkana Revenant, and efficient mana rocks, while controlling the board through dense, low-cost creature removal and sweepers like Toxic Deluge and Crux of Fate. Card advantage engines such as Necropotence, Phyrexian Arena, and Bolas's Citadel ensure a steady stream of resources to assemble devastating drain finishers. Ob Nixilis, the Fallen applies steady life loss and grows into a lethal combat threat through normal land drops and fetchlands. The deck concludes games by channeling massive mana into game-ending sorceries like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate, or chaining life-drain triggers with Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Kokusho, the Evening Star. While vulnerable to countermagic and artifact-heavy strategies, its resilience, recursive elements, and overwhelming late-game mana make it an oppressive midrange powerhouse.
