Deck overview

This deck utilizes Gwenom, Remorseless as a potent life-for-mana engine directly from the command zone. When Gwenom attacks, her ability acts like Bolas's Citadel, letting you cast spells from the top of your library by paying life equal to their mana value instead of paying mana. With innate deathtouch and lifelink, Gwenom recoups lost life in combat while cheating high-cost black bombs onto the battlefield. The deck supports this explosive strategy with dense 1-to-2 CMC ramp, Swamp mana doublers like Crypt Ghast, and top-deck smoothers like Doom Whisperer and Crystal Ball. Once the engine starts on Turn 5, it floods the board with game-ending threats including Archon of Cruelty, Vilis, Broker of Blood, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. If opponents remove Gwenom, the deck transitions cleanly into graveyard reanimation or hardcasts Bolas's Citadel, closing the game on Turn 6 with massive life-drain bursts from Exsanguinate.
