Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth, turning life into a primary mana resource. The deck aims to accelerate K'rrik onto the battlefield by Turn 3 or 4, drastically discounting black-pip heavy spells. Once K'rrik is established, the deck transitions into finding and resolving its primary two-card infinite combo: Professor Onyx and Chain of Smog. By targeting yourself repeatedly with Chain of Smog, Onyx's Magecraft ability triggers continuously, draining all opponents for 2 life per iteration while keeping your life total high. Secondary win conditions include Bolas's Citadel storm lines, Necrotic Ooze graveyard activations, and massive drain bursts with Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Exsanguinate. A dense package of lifegain cards, black removal spells, and reanimation ensures the deck can sustain heavy life payments, disrupt creature-based strategies, and recover critical combo pieces from the graveyard.
