Commander: Zhao, the Moon Slayer

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Mono-red land-denial deck commanded by Zhao, the Moon Slayer. The primary plan is to punish nonbasic lands with Zhao, Blood Sun, Magus of the Moon, Ruination, and Winter Orb, while Snow-Covered Mountains turn Extraplanar Lens and Gauntlet of Power into one-sided ramp. Alena, Kessig Trapper is a useful Human mana engine but not a hidden commander. The fastest finished line is Godo, Bandit Warlord plus Helm of the Host, using Rising of the Day for haste and extra-combat loops. Backup paths are Human token swarms from Hanweir Garrison, Horn of Gondor, and Riders of the Mark, plus burn from Kessig Malcontents and Vigilante Justice. Zhao himself is a stax enabler rather than the kill condition.
