Deck overview

Maha, Its Feathers Night turns opposing creatures into 1-toughness bodies, and Plague Spitter converts that setting into a recurring upkeep wipe. The primary plan is to reach both permanents, preserve them through the first upkeep, and use the resulting creature attrition to control combat while building black mana. Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, Black Market, and Bolas's Citadel support a later Torment of Hailfire or Gray Merchant of Asphodel finish. The deck has meaningful removal, discard, reanimation, and life-buffer tools, but the creature engine is exposed before its first trigger and does not stop noncreature spells. Its finish is not reliably assembled from the same ordinary operating state, so its strongest dependable role is asymmetric board control rather than a fast win. Mulligans should prioritize lands, early acceleration, and access to either Maha, Its Feathers Night or a suitable tutor, while avoiding hands built only from expensive payoffs and tap lands.
